Fan-Made LEGO Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens Teaser Trailer

By now, any Star Wars fan has seen the teaser for Episode VII: The Force Awakens. And for the more hardcore fans, there have been plenty who have made speculation videos, prediction blogs and more. To this fan’s surprise, many also re-made the teaser in LEGO form! Here is a particularly well-done version, in my opinion. Be sure to view it in 720p or 1080p!

Just seeing this given some form has me looking forward to what LEGO comes up with after the film is released. That’s a long time from now of course, and the film hasn’t even been released yet, but you can’t help but wonder and imagine.

Star Wars Rebels: Extended Trailer

A new, extended trailer for Star Wars Rebels was released on Saturday. The series will air in October on Disney XD. I’m not sure if it’s because of the original content or not, but the character designs this time around (for most of the main cast) seem very… soft. Much of the main cast in the Clone Wars series had that sharp, angular look to them. Not a bad thing, but I do wonder if it could also be because of Disney.

In any event, the story of Ezra seems promising… I do like that most of the cast isn’t just a collection of Jedi, either. We have a droid, an alien, a couple Jedi, and a female Mandalorian. Personally, I’m looking forward to it. Let’s hope this series delivers!

Brickworld Chicago 2014 – Star Wars MOCs

Last weekend, I had the pleasure of visiting Brickworld Chicago 2014 in Schaumberg, Illinois. There was a lot of new MOCs to be seen, as well as specialty shops to visit. I went in not expecting too much to be different from previous years, but to my surprise, there was quite a bit that was new to me. There were plenty of new sci-fi, city/town, medieval and film-based creations to be seen. In terms of Star Wars, there wasn’t a lot that was new, and unfortunately there were no previews of upcoming sets present at the show. I did, however, capture some pictures of Star Wars MOCs and dioramas that I thought to be notable, so here they are (click on the images to load a larger version):

White Republic Cruiser

This Republic cruiser, built in primarily white, stood out to me.  It reminds me of the T-6 Jedi Shuttle’s color scheme, which I quite liked.

Clone Wars Battlefield - Large (1) cClone Wars Battlefield - Large (2)

These two images are of the same diorama – a large-scale battle between Republic and Separatist forces. I really liked the attention to detail here, like the explosive rounds hitting the clones and the battle between Anakin and Dooku, with the former leaping from his Jedi starfighter into battle. On the other side, more clones! Looks like the Republic has outflanked the Separatists. I like the inclusion of the 2014 Episode III clone troopers in their phase II armor. Did I mention that the 2nd airborne clone paratroopers are one of my favorite clone variants? And they’re here!

Clone Wars Battlefield

This battlefield is a bit more clustered than the last, but still fun to look at. We’ve got clones gliding across the waters in swamp speeders, Republic walkers making their way into battle by land, droids by ship (though it is perhaps a bit silly), and destroyed mobile units on both sides.

LEGO Star Wars Party

This setup was probably my favorite – and the funniest. It’s like something straight out of a LEGO video game.  You’ve got a lot going on here. There’s the Village People, in LEGO form and donned in stormtrooper gear, giving a performance; Darth Vader and Princess Leia are breaking down on the dance floor; Zerg from Toy Story makes an appearance as the bartender and some Star Trek Enterprise crew members crash the party; all the while, Han and Chewie and a royal guard and stormtrooper are enjoying their drinks off to the side.

Brickworld Chicago 2014

This weekend marks the beginning of Brickworld Chicago 2014’s public exposition. Today, Saturday, June 14th, the expo is open from 10am to 4pm CST. Tomorrow, June 15th, it is open from 10am to 3pm CST. It will be taking place at the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center in Schaumburg, Illinois (1551 North Thoreau Drive, 60173).

Admission for everyone above the age of 3 is $11 at the door. If you received a Brickworld magnet last year, it will be $1 off of public admission (though they will take the magnet – so if you would like to keep it, don’t use it). If you are a military member or first responder, it is $8 at the door.

Don’t miss out on the expo, especially if you haven’t been to one before. There are many beautiful, creative, clever, and straight-up funny creations featured there built by LEGO fans both young and old. There are also fun events for the kids as well as specialty shops selling anything from LED lights, stickers, and custom-molded accessories for your LEGO creations. From time to time, brand-new sets that have not yet been released are also featured there, especially Star Wars, so if you want to catch a sneak peek and you live around the area, why not stop by?

For additional information and directions to the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center, visit the site.
