BrickWars Sets Description Lego Star Wars 3219 Mini TIE Fighter released on November 20, 2003, as a miniature of the TIE Fighter from the Original Trilogy. The set was a promotion and distributed FREE to members of the Star Wars Fan Club, and never released to the public. It was only available from the Lego Club and the Star Wars Fan Club. The Mini TIE Fighter became a highly sought after set in 2003, due to limited circulation. T.I.E. abbreviated for Twin Ion Engine fighter was the predecessor to the Imperial TIE starfighter and its variants. It was first to use a ball-shaped cockpit with a vertical wing design similar in terms of shape to its descendants. These fighters were economical to build and easily deployed into combat from tightly packed launch bays in ordinary cargo holds. Twin Ion Engine, a powerful propulsion unit linked to a solar ionization reactor and solar array wings made the TIE fighter incredibly fast, however, hyperdrive, shields and life support systems were incompatible with its overall design. As far as armament, one or more laser cannons usually armed the TIE fighter.
The Lego 3219 MINI TIE Fighter contains 12 pieces and includes no minifigures.
