BrickWars Sets Description Lego Star Wars 7150 TIE Fighter & Y-Wing is a set that features the TIE fighter and Y-Wing fighter. The TIE Advanced x1 was an advanced prototype starfighter initially intended to be the current TIE fighter's replacement, and tested by Darth Vader during the Battle of Yavin. It was never used as the TIE fighter's replcement, although quite a few of its design features were taken and incoporated into the TIE Bomber and the TIE Interceptor. Eventually, through further development the TIE Avenger and TIE Defender came into existence. The TIE Advanced had the same engine as the TIE fighter,a solar ionization reactor paired with twin ion engines (T.I.E.). However, its framework was original. Unlike the TIE fighter, the pod was reinforced with durasteel alloy and had an elongated rear deck, to keep the ship together and allowing it to take more fire. If an ordinary TIE fighter was hit where the pod connected to the wing, the wing would likely break off, causing the entire ship to spin out of control. But in the case of the TIE Advanced, it would not as easily. As demonstrated in "Episode IV: A New Hope," as Vader pursued Luke in his X-Wing, Han Solo, fliying the Millennium Falcon came and saved Luke. Vader's wingmen, who were both piloting TIE fighters were destroyed. One was shot down, and the other crashed into Vader's TIE Advanced. Vader was hit on the left wing and spun out of control, but was able to eventually regain control. The bent wings on his ship also contributed to this, as it had reduced profile and had greater resistance. The fighter was armed with two standard L-s9.3 laser cannons.
