Lego Star Wars 7163 Republic Gunship from “Attack of the Clones” also known as the Low Altitude Assault Transport used by the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars. The gunship was designed to transport up to 30 clone troopers into the combat zone and provide support. Early gunships were in-atmosphere vehicles, which required cruisers to land on the planet or descend into the atmosphere to allow them to launch operations. Subsequent versions were able to fly through space and be used for boarding in ship-to-ship battles. The gunship a repulsorlift class vehicle, measured 17.4 meters in length with a wingspan of 17 meters. The weapon systems designed for both air-to-air combat and air to ground support. Atop of the craft, two mass-driver missile launchers used for long range or slow fixed targets had a variable payload depending on the mission. Eight air-to-air missiles, four mounted under each wing for any in flight targets. Four composite beam pinpoint laser turrets, two manned by clone troopers and two remote controlled by the co-pilot/gunner on each wing had a wide field of rotation for both air-to-air and air-to-ground operations. There are three anti-personnel turrets, two at the front and one at the rear of the craft, to ensure a clear path for deployment of troops or vehicles. A rear hangar held four speederbikes for reconnaissance operations or as search and rescue vehicles. The Republic Gunship is a highly maneuverable and had outstanding performance in atmosphere. After the battle of Geonosis, a Special Ops gunship was introduced with a new paint scheme, increased maneuverability and additional flight time.
