BrickWars Sets Description Lego Star Wars 7171 Mos Espa Podrace from “The Phantom Menace” The Boonta Eve Classic was the largest annual podrace in the galaxy, held on the planet of Tatooine. It was located outside of Mos Espa, and the Boonta racecourse started in the Mos Espa Grand Arena. Blazing out of the arena onto the Starlite Flats, a stretch of desert where podracers jockeyed for strong starting position. They had to line up in a single file as they entered the curving canyon through Waldo Flats, and opening up into Mushroom Mesa, a rocky, wide-open area dominated by enormous bulbous rock formations. Metta Drop a steep slope plunged the racers onto Ebe Crater Valley, a narrow opening where they had to navigate to enter Beggars Canyon. The race continued onto a stretch of desert plains adjacent the Dune Sea. Arch Canyon a dangerous area forced pilots to maneuver through stone wickets before entering another series of canyons, included Whip, Jag Crag Gorge and the Laguna Caves. Coming out of the caves, pilots virtually lost control through the tight Canyon Turn, a known campsite of vindictive Sandpeople. Podracers able to survive the potshots from the Sandpeople had to avoid the rocky obstacles in Bindy Bend before entering the last stretch of canyon, which included Coil Jett’s Chute, and the Corkscrew. Leaving the Corkscrew through Devil’s Doorknob, the pilots advanced onto Hutt’s Flats, an uneventful stretch led them back to the arena. This entire course consisted of one lap, however, the Boonta Eve Classic required three laps for completion. Young Anakin Skywalker entered his custom podracer into the competion sponsored by Jedi Master Qui-Gon Ginn. The odds were in favor of the scheming Sebula to win, however, the force was with Anakin that day, and he made a stunning upset to the long-standing Dug champion. That fateful day Anakin won more than a race; he won his freedom from slavery.
The Lego 7171 Mos Espa Podrace contains 894 pieces and includes 10 minifigures.

Reviews Posted May 1, 2009 by Adam, United States The set i am going to talk about is Mos Espa Podrace set number 7171.this is a great set for play ability, this set includes Anakin Skywalker, Jar Jar Binks,Padme, Qui-gon R2,Pit droids and gasgano and Sebulba. This is an awsome set to build it took about 3 and 1/2 hours not that long, the price at the time was $100.00 and now it can go up to $105.00 bucks. This set could break a little so be careful there was not that much detail for the side lines but the racers were pretty well done. This scene was from episode 1 The Phantom Menace, this scene was packed with intense action and little bit graphic some of the racers did die, but Anakin came out on top and showed them who is boss. The racers kind of make no sense because the tan bricks kind of get in the way i know they have to be there to suport it , but this set is worth getting because of the characters or just to collect. When you first open the box there are 3 different sets and you can build one at time or just open them all. This set is a little accurate because padme and Qui-gon were in a tower, also Gasgano looks horribe but his podracer is awsome. I think this set could of been a better but the set is worth getting if you collect, i would not recomend this to any one who is not going to play with it back then the price could have been lowered done just a touch, now on to pros and cons!

Posted August 23, 2008 by LEGOFAN Star Wars Lego set #7171: This is a phenomenal set! It has three podracers and loads of minifigures! But the big chip in the rock is... the price.Pros: Cons: This set is really great, and I would have given it a full score, but I'm afraid I have to give it a 9/10 because of its price. If you compare the price of the 7131 Anakin's Podracer set to this, the MSRP of this set should've been around $70-$80 USD. | |||
