BrickWars Sets Description Lego Star Wars 7180 B-Wing Fighter from “The Empire Strikes Back” was one of the largest and heaviest armed assault starfighters-bombers in the Rebel Alliance fleet. The name B-Wing derived by the ship’s resemblance of the lowercase letter “b”, as well as the moniker “blade-wing” when the B-Wing is engaged in attack mode resembled the shape of a sword. The B-Wing known as “crosses” was a difficult ship to fly due to its top-heavy unique shape. The B-Wing had two engine systems; Kyromaster engine with four thrusters, or JZ-5 fusial thrust engines. It has a highly adaptable design with modular hard points and other components. The weapon system is reconfigured more easily than other Alliance fighters and it carried an unusual payload for its size. Three ion cannons, two proton torpedo launchers, one laser cannon and two auto blasters. The rotating cockpit is independently stabilized to allow the pilot to coordinate in flight and attack maneuvers. The B-Wing equipped with remarkable firepower and sturdy deflector shields made it survivable during engagement, but it required an escort into battle. Designed to eventually replace the aging Y-Wing in the assault role, the B-Wing had several shortcomings. Most notably it was difficult to fly, lacked speed and agility, making it a susceptible target, therefore, never superseding the Y-Wing.
The Lego 7180 B-Wing Fighter at Rebel Control Center contains 338 pieces and includes 3 minifigures.

Reviews Posted August 23, 2008 by LEGOFAN, United States Star Wars Lego set #7180: A very cool set. It was the second Star Wars Lego set I ever got in the past, and I squeezed all the fun I possibly could out of this set. This is why:Pros: Cons: I have a thing for Star Wars Lego sets that include ships with adjustable wings... first it was the Lego X-Wing fighter, then it was this... now, I want the new V-19 Torrent. But with this set, I give it a 9/10 | |||
