The Trade Federation's blockade on Naboo caused a crisis on the planet, as food and supplies began running out on a widespread scale. The Trade Federation seemed to have some sort of conflict with Naboo, played off to be economic or political, when in fact it was Darth Sidious who manipulated the Federation into doing what they did... and the next step was a full-scale invasion. With Lucrehulk-class cruisers surrounding Naboo, the Federation could send in their massive transports to deploy tanks and droid carriers anywhere on the planet, as well as droid fighters. Whether it was on the expansive plains of Naboo or in its wetlands, the Federation could send their legions of battle droids wherever they were deemed necessary.
